Bethy’s Reading

Mary Lee: Bethy

<Bethy comes forward to read>

It will take time for our home to be everything we want it to be, to make the adjustments as we turn our house into a home.  Our new family is a beautiful rainbow with each individual having a distinct color, each one providing a different hue to complete the spectrum.  But we will remember, it takes both the sun and the rain to make a rainbow, and our relationships with each other will be that way, too.  The rains may come and dampen things from time to time, but rain is needed to make things grow.  Soon the sun will shine on us and bring out the many colored facets of our lives.  A vibrant rainbow is in our family’s future!

Jordan’s Reading

A family is a team, in the best sense of the word.  We do things together.  We work together, play together, eat together, laugh together, struggle together.  We are in this together.  No one person is more or less a family member than any other.  We are a team and everyone needs to participate in the game.  Yes, there will be some out of bounds balls now and again, and not every kick will score.  That’s part of the game.  But there will also be amazing goals and fantastic teamwork.  Not every team member can give 100% every day. Every once in a while you have to bench yourself. But this is still giving to the team effort. You have to let each other know when you cannot be counted on to score a goal or even to set up a pass. Other times, you can give more than expected. You can let someone else bench themselves when they need to. In a game, the team has a plan and in order to win the game, it doesn’t matter which one makes the kick.  That is what we will do together because we are a team.  As a team, everything we wish for can be realized.

Jennica’s Reading

Mary Lee: Jennica

When joining a family as we are today, misunderstandings can come up.  Communication is very important in our relationship as a family.  We live in an age of cell phones, email, and instant messaging filling our lives with ways to communicate.  Yet with all this incredible technology, one of the greatest needs of a family is simply to talk and listen.  We will make time for our family to talk, to be together, to play games.  We will talk about our interests, our needs, our problems, our solutions, our hopes and our dreams.  Talking and listening is far more than just words; talking and listening communicates how much we care about each other.
